Four reasons why women are choosing Bluebird Ski

Booking the flights is the easy part. Choosing the perfect outfit? That’s where the stress usually starts.

If you’ve ever felt like you had to choose between a jacket that looks great in photos but leaves you shivering on the chairlift, or a "technical" suit that makes you look like a frumpy marshmallow, you’re not alone.

At Bluebird Ski, we spent years watching (and being!) women who struggle with a dilemma: ill-fitting and uninspired gear, gorgeous fits that get soaked through the second a snowflake falls, or nail the aesthetic and performance but have to get another mortgage out to afford the outfit. We decided it was time for a change.

Here are some of the best features we incorporated into Bluebird Ski outfits to ensure you stay warm, stylish, and stress-free from first lifts to last orders.

The Foundation Problem: Why we invented the Makeup Catcher

It’s the hidden frustration of every female skier: you buy a beautiful, crisp ski jacket, and by 11AM on day one, the collar is covered in foundation and lip balm. Not only does it look messy, but it’s notoriously hard to clean without compromising the waterproofing of the entire piece.

The Bluebird Ski Solution: Our signature Makeup Catcher. We designed a soft, removable, and washable fleece panel guard that sits exactly where you need it. It keeps your suit pristine and your skin comfortable. It’s a small detail that makes a massive difference in how you feel at lunch.

Time Management: The Watch Window

In the mountains, timing is everything. You’re tracking your vertical miles on your Garmin, checking the time for your lunch reservation, or making sure you don't miss the last lift home. Or… you just want to know when après is starting. But most ski sleeves are bulky and tight. Peeling back your glove and two layers of sleeves in -10°C air is a recipe for frozen wrists.

Bluebird Ski outfits come with a dedicated, transparent Watch Window. It allows you to check your stats, messages, or the time in a split second without breaking the warm heat seal of your sleeve.

The Fit: Silhouette vs. Performance

Many more affordable ski brands cut their suits in a boxy, unisex shape. On the other end of the spectrum, high-fashion suits can be so slim fit you can barely sit down for a vin chaud.

Look for articulated joints and curve-hugging panels. Bluebird Ski suits cinch in at the waist to give you a feminine silhouette, but uses intelligent panelling around the knees so you can actually move, carve, and- yes- even fall over without feeling restricted.

Technical Specs: Don’t Get Caught in the Cold

Most skiers knows that snow can quickly build up and melt on your body, whether waiting at the top of a mountain or on a chairlift that’s stopped still. If your suit isn't technically sound, you’ll be wet and cold within an hour.

Look for at least 10,000mm (10k) waterproofing and 10,000g (10k) breathability. This is the "sweet spot" for European skiing. It’s enough to keep you dry in a heavy snowstorm, but breathable enough that you won't overheat when the sun comes out during a long run.

Ready for the Slopes?

A great ski holiday is built on confidence. When you know you look good, and you know your gear won't let you down, you ski better. It’s that simple.
